The Trinity Index

This book project of artistic research, as part of my dissertation “The Trinity Index: Radioactive Contamination and Its Photographic Visibility”, is concerned with the representability of the radiation released from the world’s first atomic bomb explosion, its spatial organization, and its cultural construction with reference to the Trinity site, a former nuclear weapons testing site in New Mexico.

The starting point is the photographic documentary material from testing of the atomic bomb Trinity in 1945 as well as my own photographs taken in situ. This material permits study of the indexical inscription resulting from atomic destruction.
