Memorabilia 2021

In her expansive work Memorabilia, Eva Castringius relates radioactivity and Berlin blue. This color pigment is not only a light-sensitive material, but also an antidote for radioactive poisoning. The artist uses it in the exposure process and thematizes the discovery of radioactivity in the late nineteenth century and its health risks. In her photograms she understands the photographic imprints of the objects as Memorabilia of the fates of the protagonists* who were exposed to radioactivity without protection and refers to the danger of invisible radiation.
